Random Acts of Kindness Day 2021

It's Random Acts of Kindness Day!! To honor this day dedicated to selfless giving, we thought we could give you all some ideas on how you could use random acts of kindness to further our efforts at Serene Harbor to stop and prevent intimate partner violence.

1. Donate Supplies.

a. Domestic violence shelters are in constant need of donations and Serene Harbor is no different! You can visit our website to find our donations list, or stay tuned on our social media pages! Whenever a specific need arises in our shelter or in our community, Facebook is our go-to resource to let you know!

2. Donate Gift Cards.

a. Our program participants often come to us with little to no money to call their own. Gift cards to restaurants, local stores, or even transportation services can truly make their day.

3. Be Kind to Those Around You.

a. Violence doesn’t see race, economic status, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, age, or any other identifying factor. In other words, you never know what the person standing next to you in line, cutting you off in traffic, or being rude to you in the grocery store is going through – just choose kindness.

4. Have Tough Conversations.

a. Domestic violence and teen dating violence are not talked about nearly enough in our private or public circles. Educate yourself on the warning signs and triggers, bring it up to others when needed, ask the awkward questions, and be loud about what is important to you.

5. Use Social Media to Bring Awareness.

a. COVID-19 has only made our digital connections stronger and more widespread, so let’s use them! Reach out to us if you are interested in receiving advocacy content to post on your social platforms.

6. Volunteer and/or Attend Fundraising Events.

a. Our various fundraising events have such an incredible impact on our ability to do this work, and we have so many different opportunities for you to get involved in! Reach out to us today if you have any questions about an upcoming event or want to learn more about how to get involved.

Today might be Random Acts of Kindness Day, but at Serene Harbor we believe in consistent kindness every day. Let us know how you are choosing to spread kindness today, this week, or every day!
