National Social Work Month

March is National Social Work Month and we would like to share a little information on how social workers are involved in the support of survivors of domestic violence.

According to the National Association of Social Workers’ (NASW) website, "Social workers are at the forefront in preventing domestic Violence and treating victims of domestic Violence. For instance, social workers provide counseling and support through shelter programs, individual counseling, and court advocacy. Social workers also advocate for programs and legislation to address domestic Violence.*

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) provides a public toolkit for all who seek to improve their knowledge regarding domestic violence cases. The NASW also includes a link called Help Starts Here that offers resources to survivors of domestic violence or those who suspect a friend or family member is a survivor.

We at Serene Harbor are grateful for the services that social workers provide survivors, and we appreciate all the good work that they do.
