Cell Phone Program

CALLING ALL CELL PHONES

Did you know your old cell phone could be worth up to $30?

Why does Serene Harbor collect old cell phones?
Even if a cell phone has no service provider it can still dial 911. Your unused phones could be a lifesaver!

Here’s How It Works:
We collect used/unwanted cell phones from the community.

The phones that are capable of dialing 911 without requiring a service prodiver are distributed to our shelter residents and outreach clients.

The phones we can not use as 911 phones for our shelter and outreach clients are packaged and sent to Shelter Alliance, where they are refurbished and resell the used cell phones. Shelter Alliance sends us a check for the value of the phones. We put these dollars back into the programs that serve victims and their children.

If a cell phone is not able to be refurbished then it is recycled using the most up to date methods available. Thus helping to save our environment by sending environmentally unfriendly cell phones to our landfills.

This program help our clients, our program and
our environment, everybody wins!

We have various drop-off locations throughout the community.

Through Shelter Alliance, nonprofit organizations raise funds through the collection & recycling of used cell phones, and businesses & consumers donate & recycle cell phones to benefit nonprofit participants.
